12/4/10 2:38 pm to 5:48 pm - I worked on the Gegenbauer paper and section in my dissertation.
8:12 pm to 2:38 am - Further work on the Gegenbauer problem. Specifically, looking at the swirl number definition in order to determine new conical modified swirl numbers and understand past modified swirl numbers. I believe I am almost there. Some confusion between the swirl number and that based upon the geometry. It seems that the actual swirl number needs experimental measurement and the swirl number based upon the geometry is a simplified version, obviously, based upon the geometry. I will explain this more in the paper and dissertation section.

Further work on the Gegenbauer solution. I think I have worked out some kinks. There was an error where I added an extra constant causing normalization issues. I also have the swirl number squared away with some discussion on it. Hopeful to get some plots done in the next few days. I also am still planning to work on the hypersonic project this week as well since that is top priority except I got sucked in to these orbiting projects for a moment. I want to go over a few papers and add some material to the thesis sections and chapters. I will also take a break from the references and work on going over a few I have.

I worked a little on the Gegenbauer solution. At the point to convert to cylindrical polar coordinates. Did the short section for normalization. I added a couple of sections to the hypersonic thesis. In chapter 2 under scramjets I added solid fuel and liquid fuel subsection. Under the fuel section I added two subsections. Began to write in solid fuel subsection covering paper by Ben-Arosh et al (1999). This paper has a theoretical approach to modeling the solid fuel scramjet. Ultimately I want to compare to our team's papers to see if similar approaches applied to solid rockets can be applied to solid fuel scramjets. So this will also add material to chapter 8 (analytical) and chapter 7 (cfd). So for tomorrow I would like to go further into Gegenbauer by getting to plots and review so more over solid fuel scramjets and previous team papers that might be similar.
