1/12/11
10:18 am to 11:48 am = 1 hr 30 min
Pulled some figures that were in the GOTCHA conference paper that haven't been inserted into the thesis yet. Cleaned up bibliography entries.
1:07 pm to 4:48 pm = 3 hrs 41 min
Today I got a lot of small things done on the thesis. I added references that were in the thesis but not in the bibliography. I pulled many figures out of papers and added a few to the thesis. Many more to come. Need to meet with my advisor when I come into town next week.
Total hrs = 1 hr 30 min + 3 hrs 41 min = 5 hrs 11 min

8:57 am to 11:18 am = 2 hrs 31 min
12:09 pm to 4:47 pm = 4 hrs 38 min
I uploaded quite a bit of figures to day. Added a few more references. I noticed that chapter 2 over aerodynamics and propulsion is a bigger mess than I thought. I'll can work on that tomorrow. It shouldn't take long to fix. I guess for now I am going to make it similar to the paper since I had expanded and moved some things around for a longer thesis version which is not needed at the moment. The same goes for chapter 3. I need to copy back in from the appendices. I am thinking now that I may not have time to do a separate chapter for CFD and analytical methods. I may have to condense the testing sections back down into one chapter. Yup, I am thinking that is what I will have to do now. Yup, what am I thinking! Must get done ASAP and this is not the way. Short and sweet it must be!

Rearranging the thesis to mimic paper then build from there if time allows. Combined chapters 5 through 8 into one chapter as modeling and testing with separate sections of flight testing, ground testing, computational testing and numerical modeling, and analytical modeling. Now chapter 6 is the conclusions. I am going through and added in the figures and references from the AIAA paper that haven't been added to the thesis yet.

5:51 pm to 9:15 pm = 3 hrs 24 min
Busy tidying up a some references for the thesis. I am trying to focus on getting the thesis at least to look like the AIAA paper with proper references, figures, etc. Hopefully, the next two weeks at UTSI the thesis will be pretty much complete, the committee reviewing it, and a defense date set.
Total hrs logged this week = 5 hrs 11 min + 7 hrs 9 min + 2 hrs 34 min + 3 hrs 24 min = 17 hrs 18 min
I had some good progress last week as I realized that even the small updates I was trying to do for the thesis (such as a whole analytical chapter, etc.) was too much and not needed. I can simply present this material in my defense as unfinished/future work. Hopefully, this week will see the closing of this chapter in my career with a new one able to emerge. I hope to meet this week and next for some constructive feedback.
